The narrative of a journey from Massachussetts through the Caribbean and to New Orleans aboard a ship departing in December 1823. Narrated by one of nine passengers, the travelogue includes accounts of harsh weather, a suspected pirate attack, encounters with merchant and naval vessels, navigation of the Mississippi Delta, life along the Mississippi, slave plantations, Indians, and life on the ship.
